Exploring The New Ford Fiesta

Exploring The New Ford Fiesta

Ford has recently revealed the new Fiesta, which features expressive exterior styling and a whole load of enhanced tech. Available in a range of practical and refined three- and five-door variants, as well as efficient mild hybrid powertrain options, there certainly will be a Fiesta for everyone.

Read on for a rundown of the main things to look out for.

Refreshed Design

The new Fiesta will have a greater presence on the roads, with distinctive design features. There will be more differentiation between variants; Trend, Titanium, ST-Line and Active models will each feature new and unique styling elements, as well as an extended range of exterior colour options, wheel designs and interior finishes. A new Vignale pack for Titanium, ST-Line and Active trims will provide an added luxurious finish to these models too.

The updated bonnet design means the new Fiesta will have a higher nose, larger upper grilles and the Ford badge will now be displayed within the grille, rather than on the bonnet lip. Each trim will come with its own unique twists, for example, Trend and Titanium models will feature a broad upper grille with a chrome surround and distinctive side vents; Titanium models will also feature chrome window surrounds; sporty ST-Line models will feature a new upper grille with a deeper inset and a gloss finish and Active models will have a wide upper grille finished in gloss black.

There are seven new alloy wheel designs and two new exterior paint colours; Boundless Blue and Beautiful Berry.

The highest spec Vignale packs which are available on Titanium, ST-Line and Active models bring unique design features, including exclusive 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, premium Sensico upholstery and matte carbon-effect interior elements.

Technology

The new Fiesta will feature a package of latest-generation technologies, which will make for an intelligent, connected driving experience. From navigating the city to motorway cruising, the technology onboard is designed to make the driving experience more comfortable and convenient.

For the first time, LED headlights will be seen across all Fiesta models, with advanced Matrix technology offering a glare-free function on high beam lights, as well as adaptive beam technology to improve visibility in various conditions.

A 12.3-inch digital instrument display will keep drivers informed. A number of sophisticated driver assistance technologies, such as Local Hazard Information and Wrong-Way Alert will feature in the Fiesta for the first time too. Wrong Way Alert uses a windscreen-mounted camera alongside information from the cars navigation system to provide drivers with audio and visual warnings in the event that they drive through two “No Entry” signs on a motorway ramp.

Further technologies include Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Park Assist, Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keeping Aid and Pre-Collision Assist with Active Breaking, Live Traffic Updates and Local Hazard Information.

FordPass Connect (available as standard) allows a number of convenient car features to be controlled and managed through the FordPass App e.g., door lock/unlock, remote start and vehicle status (for checking fuel, tyre pressure etc.).

The SYNC3 communication system allows drivers to control vehicle functions by voice command. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come as standard and an additional 8-inch central touchscreen further aids connectivity.

Engine and Powertrains

The new Fiesta will bring an exciting yet fuel-efficient driving experience through its range of EcoBoost Hybrid 48-volt mild hybrid and EcoBoost petrol powertrains.

EcoBoost mild hybrid models feature a belt-driven integrated starter/generator (BISG) which stores energy usually lost during braking. The BISG also integrates with the engine as a motor and uses stored energy to provide torque assistance.

The new Fiesta’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid engine is available in 125 and 155 PS power outputs, with a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automatic transmission. According to Ford data, these engine options come with improved fuel efficiency metrics, with savings of up to 10 % in urban environments.

The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine delivers 100 PS and is available with a six-speed manual transmission.

Fiesta ST

The new Fiesta ST-Line will feature honeycomb-style upper and lower grilles, with large lower side vents. New Performance Seats inside have been developed to enhance support during high-performance driving, and exterior colour options now include the bold Mean Green finish.

Drivers can expect to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 143mph, with the 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine.

Prices for the new Fiesta will start at £16,620 and orders are open, for 2022 delivery. For more information, keep an eye on our Newsroom, or follow the links below:
