Manufacturers have their own service guidelines based on different time and mileage schedules. The recommended service interval for your vehicle can be found in your handbook, however if your vehicle covers a lot of miles and in challenging conditions, it may need more regular servicing. Plus, having a full service history when it comes to selling your car means you're more likely to get a higher valuation, as it demonstrates the vehicle has been well maintained.

How often do I need a car service?

You should try and get your car serviced according to the manufacturer's guidance. You can find details of the recommended service schedule in your owner's manual or online. Every car is different, so it's best to check for your own make and model.

What type of service do I need for my car?

We offer full and interim servicing, depending on the annual mileage and age of your vehicle and the recommended service intervals from your manufacturer. If you need guidance on what type of service you require, please refer to your vehicle handbook or get in touch with your local dealership, and a member of our team will be able to help.

Do you provide service plans?

Yes! The Macklin Motors Personal Service Plan allows you to spread your service and MOT costs out, over affordable monthly payments. You could even save up to 25% compared to standard dealership service rates, giving you one less thing to think about.

How much will a service cost?

The price of a car service depends on the vehicle and the service required. At Macklin Motors, we offer fair and transparent pricing, which means that all invoices will match quoted prices, and any work carried out will always be agreed in advance.

How long does a car service take?

A full vehicle service will take around three hours, and an interim service will take around one and a half hours. If additional work is required, this will take more time, but this will be outlined by the technician working on your vehicle.

What if my vehicle needs extra work?

If we identify that your car requires some additional work following the service, we will discuss this with you to make sure you're happy with our suggestions. The cost for additional work will be agreed in advance, so you'll always be aware of this when it comes to making the final payment.

Do you service electric and hybrid vehicles?

Yes! We can complete interim and full services on your electric or hybrid vehicle, at any of our dealerships.

What is covered by new car warranty?

New car warranties can vary depending on the manufacturer. You can find out what items are covered by your warranty in the vehicle handbook. If you are unsure, the dealership where you purchased your vehicle will also be able to help.

It's worth bearing in mind that you can void your warranty, meaning you are not always covered.

The ways you can void your warranty include, but are not limited to:

  • Exceeding mileage limits
  • Overloading your vehicle
  • Not regularly servicing your vehicle
  • Using the wrong type of fuel and unapproved fluids
  • Vehicle modifications
  • Vehicle misuse
  • Aggressive driving

If you decide to buy an extended warranty, your warranty terms may differ. Contact your warranty provider for more information on specific terms.

There are a few items not covered by your warranty, these include oil, antifreeze, and brake fluids. Tyres and windscreen wipers, also known as "wear and tear" items are also not covered. Finally, your warranty generally doesn't cover scratches or cosmetic damage.

Does car warranty cover MOT failure?

Car warranties do not cover MOT failure. This is because an MOT is a legal requirement by the UK government.

What are the benefits of extended warranty?

Get additional cover and peace of mind with an extended warranty. This covers specific repairs or replacement parts in your vehicle, that are set out in your contract.

Priority Service Plan

The Macklin Motors Priority Service Plan is the smarter way to service your car. Spread the cost of maintaining your vehicle through manageable monthly payments, which can lead to savings of up to 25% compared to one-off car servicing.
