How are tyres measured?

You can find out the size of your tyres by looking for the code on the sidewall. The first three digits represent the tyre width. This is followed by two digits indicating the height as a percentage of the width.

The next letter signifies the tyre construction (typically radial). Meanwhile, the subsequent two numbers show the tyre diameter.

The load rating is indicated by the final two numbers. With the last letter showing the speed rating - the higher the letter, the faster the speed.

Which tyres do I need?

Can tyres fail an MOT?
