Fastest ever Ford RS model revealed in on-track video

Following its introduction at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, Ford's Focus RS has become a hot topic amongst car enthusiasts, all of whom questioned just how well the hot hatch would perform.

Now, Ford has proven the Focus RS's impressive capabilities with a new video of a striking blue example racing around a closed track.

The stats, which are listed on the video, reveal that the high-performance Focus RS is the fastest accelerating RS model ever, speeding from 0 62mph in just 4.7 seconds.

The Focus RS is able to reach a top speed of 165mph thanks to a specially engineered version of Ford's new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine delivering maximum power output of 350PS.

Acceleration on the all-new Focus RS acceleration is optimized by Launch Control technology, which features on a Ford RS model for the first time. The model also debuts new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, which gives the vehicle outstanding traction and grip with unmatched agility and cornering speed.

Jrgen Gagstatter, chief program engineer for Focus RS commented: "The all-new Focus RS delivers stunning performance and innovative technology at a price that will make both our customers and premium automakers look twice. After experiencing the acceleration and cornering capability of the Focus RS, drivers will question the sense in spending almost £10,000 more on a premium competitor."

The 30th Ford RS model is now available to order from £28,940 on the road, with delivery expected from early 2016.
