Hibernian Share The Spoils With Aberdeen Draw

Hibernian continue to give chase in the race for the top six in the Scottish Premierahip after the Macklin Motors-backed side were held to a draw by Aberdeen.

Hibs were still chasing a first league win since the season resumed after the winter break and took the lead after twelve minutes when Myziane Maolida played in Martin Boyle to round ‘keeper Kelle Roos and slide in the opening goal.

Aberdeen were quick to respond however and equalised three minutes later when David Marshall produced a smart save to keep out a volley from Bojan Miovski but could only push the ball into the path of Nicky Devlin – who slid the ball home.

Hibs had a strong penalty shout turned down when Devlin appeared to handle the ball before the break and in the second half, fell behind when Jamie McGrath's stabbed the ball into the net from close range after some below-par defending from the away side.

That left Hibs needing to fight back although things could have got worse had Marshall been penalised for contact with Miovski as the pair both went for the ball.

Emiliano Marcondes equalised following a VAR check when he smashed in from inside the box, giving him a first goal for the club.

A point leaves Hibs five points away from the top six going into a crucial game against Dundee – the side directly ahead of the Hibees in the table – at Easter Road this weekend.
