Hibs Left Angered Following Late Celtic Drama

Hibernian boss Nick Montgomery was left angered by an injury time penalty that saw his side slide to defeat against Celtic in the latest round of games in the Scottish Premiership.

The Macklin Motors-backed side were bidding to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 reversal at home to St Mirren against the defending champions, who were looking to try and reclaim a three point lead at the top of the table.

Things didn’t start well for the home side at Easter Road when Celtic were awarded a penalty after just ten minutes, with Nectarios Triantis deemed to have fouled Alistair Johnston as the pair went up for.a header together.

Adam Idah converted the penalty to put Celtic in front but Hibs fought back after the break and a stunning strike on the volley from Dylan Levitt brought the home side level, with his shot flying into the bottom corner to leave Joe Hart with no chance.

Hart was then forced into a smart save when Myziane Maolida flicked the ball into the air and fired an overhead kick towards goal before Lewis Miller slid an effort just wide of the far post.

Hibs also had a penalty shout turned down for an apparent foul on Martin Boyle and it that decision that angered Montgomery when Celtic were awarded a contentious penalty of their own against the run of play when Joe Newell was deemed to have fouled Kyogo Furuhashi as the Japanese forward attempted a shot.

With the game into stoppage time, Idah stepped up to convert the spot kick and give Celtic the points to leave Hibs sitting seventh in the table ahead of a trip to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup this weekend.
