Hibernian remain seventh in the Scottish Premiership table despite suffering a late defeat at Victoria Park against Ross County.

Hibs went into the game on the back of a win against St Johnstone which had moved the Macklin Motors-backed side four points clear of eighth spot – with the mid-season split meaning a top six finish was no longer possible.

The visitors took the lead on 15 minutes when Martin Boyle’s cross was knocked against the post by Rocky Bushiri and Myziane Maolida reacted quickest to smash the rebound into the net.

Although Hibs had started the game stronger, Ross County equalised six minutes later with Bushiri unable to deal with a cross from Yan Dhanda – leaving Simon Murray free to smash the ball beyond Jojo Wollacott and into the net.

A wide open encounter saw both sides spurn multiple chances to take the lead and it looked like the points would be shared until Ross County grabbed the winner with just two minutes left on the clock.

Wollacott tried to play out from the back but his loose ball only managed to find George Harmon and he raced forwards before crossing for Jordan White to spin in the box and put the ball into the net to secure the points.

Hibs face Aberdeen this weekend at home.
