Hyundai Wins Double at UK Car of the Year Awards 2022

Hyundai was triumphant at the recent UK Car of the Year Awards 2022, taking two awards in heavily contested categories.

The all-electric IONIQ 5 was named Best Family Car and the small and mighty i20N took the Best Performance Car title.

Each year a panel of 29 judges from top UK motoring magazines gather to determine the winning vehicles of the UK Car of the Year Awards. The judges write for titles including Top Gear Magazine, CAR and Auto Express.

On the Hyundai IONIQ 5, judges commented: “The Hyundai IONIQ 5 blazes an EV trail. Innovative, desirable, practical, and brilliantly designed to make full use of its electric-only platform. Quite where Hyundai has found so much space inside a family car is a mystery, but one we’re more than happy to ponder for many years to come.”

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has already taken a number of prestigious titles in its short lifespan. It has been a revelation in the electric sector, with its an eye-catching design, impressive range of up to 298 miles, and the capability to rapid charge from 10 - 80% in under 20 minutes.

Hyundai i20N

The rally-inspired Hyundai i20N may be a small car but it packs a powerful punch. It was up against some tough competition including established sports cars in the Best Performance Car category. The i20N was able to wow judges with its impressive performance, efficient engine and affordable price tag of £25,220.

Ollie Marriage, Judge and Top Gear Head of Car Testing described the i20N as “a wicked little hot hatch.”
