Ronan Pearson Named As BRDC Rising Star
Macklin Motors-backed racer Ronan Pearson has been given a boost ahead of the 2024 BTCC season after being named as a member of the British Racing Drivers Club’s Rising Star programme.
Ronan heads into his second year with the Bristol Street Motors-supported EXCELR8 team this season looking to challenge for the Jack Sears Trophy title, with his goal also to break onto the BTCC podium for the first time after an encouraging debut season that saw him score a best finish of fourth.
The Rising Star programme is open to drivers aged 24 and under who have been scouted as a result of their performances on track, and are seen as having the potential to one day become a fully-fledged BRDC member – an honour only available to those who make a success of their racing career.
A maximum of 40 drivers are chosen as Rising Stars at any one time, with those on the programme able to access the exclusive BRDC facilities at Silverstone and to proudly carry the BRDC Rising Stars logo on their race car.
Ronan is one of four new additions to the programme for the 2024 season and is set to be the only BRDC Rising Star driver on the BTCC grid.
Others will be competing in a wide range of championships that include GB3, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and British GT.
“There may be more than a month until the BTCC season starts, but being named as a BRDC Rising Star is already a real highlight of 2024,” Ronan said. “This is a programme that you can’t just join, so the fact that I have been invited to become a member fills me with a huge sense of pride at what I have been able to achieve in my career to date.
“For any young British driver, becoming a member of the BRDC is something that you aspire to, and it will be a huge privilege to hit the track this year with the famous badge fixed on my car.
“I look forward to flying the flag for the Rising Stars programme this season in the BTCC and hopefully it can spur me on to even greater success on track.”
