Ali Fraser and Jonny Bunyan Return to Glasgow Rocks

Earlier this month, Glasgow Rocks announced two familiar faces returning to the team after re-signing Ali Fraser and Jonny Bunyan.

Ali Fraser started his journey with the Rocks in the 2014-15 season after graduating from the University of Maine, before enjoying a brief spell in the German Pro A. The 29-year-old forward/center from Falkirk has also played for European teams, including Spain, France, and the Netherlands.

Rocks fans will undoubtedly remember Ali’s domineering time with the Rocks during the 2017-2020 seasons. He was also re-signed for the team last year, however, foot surgery led to him cutting the season short.

Gareth Murray, Head Coach said: “Ali has established himself as one of the most dominant low post players in the league. he has proven he is a key piece to any rocks team. “Unfortunately, he had to cut his season short last year with foot surgery but he will be back ready to go in September. His overall presence on the court is a huge benefit for me as a coach, but also for the players around him.”

Also returning to the team for an incredible 12th season is Rocks captain Jonny Bunyan. The 30-year-old has been a key part of Glasgow Rocks for many years and is ready to lead the team to another successful season.

On his third signing of the off-season, Gareth Murray said: “It’s important to have players that play big minutes and average big numbers.

“It is equally important to have guys that have experience and play in key moments. Jonny is a player you can rely on, he’s there when you need him, he knows his role. he is a key figure in the club.

“His role is much bigger than just on a game day. he’s a guy that keeps everyone together in the long season.”

Jonny also represented Scotland in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games 3x3 Basketball as part of Team Scotland.
