Ford Mustang Mach-E Given New BlueCruise Technology

Ever dreamed of owning a car with self-driving capability? Now you can with the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

For many, the possibility of self-driving cars seems way off into the future. Though what if we told you it was closer than you think?

Ford recently launched a brand-new system called BlueCruise to its Mustang Mach-E model, which will allow drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel.

But how exactly does it work? Read on for all you need to know.

A new era for motorists

Ford’s new BlueCruise technology with the Mustang Mach-E will enable drivers to sit back and enjoy the journey thanks to an advanced level of driver assistance.

This brings increased convenience, perfect for drivers who want a smooth, stress-free journey they can count on.

The technology works in harmony with two main systems in order to work effectively: Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centring.

This enables both the speed and position of the SUV to be controlled, without the need to keep your hands on the steering wheel to do so.

An infrared camera monitors the level of your gaze and head positioning to make sure that you are still focusing on the road ahead.

If the system detects this is not the case, you’ll be presented with a visual warning sign on the instrument cluster, or an audible chime to remind you to keep your eyes on the road.

If no action is taken to ensure safety, the system will self-abort, which will result in a gentle pumping of the brakes to gently slow down your vehicle, ready for you to take control.

The system has been extensively researched and tested, with over 100,000 miles of practice to ensure safety always comes first. It also actively monitors the road and other drivers, making it highly safe for use.

Look for the Blue Zones

Ford’s new BlueCruise system can be used in dedicated Blue Zones. According to the manufacturer, these make up 95% of the UK’s roads, so the system can be used widely on many of your travels.

When you enter these zones, you’ll be able to activate the system and enjoy hands-free driving. The manufacturer has collated a map of Blue Zones across the UK , so you can see where exactly these are.

Try it for free

If you’ve bought a Mustang Mach-E built from 2023 and beyond, you can take advantage of a 90-day free trial for the BlueCruise system and revolutionise your journeys at no extra cost.

After the trial has ended, it will cost you £17.99 each month to maintain access to the system, which will be regularly updated via over-the-air updates as the technology improves.
