Hibernian Hold On To Go Fifth

Hibernian made it back-to-back wins in the Scottish Premiership for the first time this season as the Macklin Motors-backed side moved up into fifth place in the table.

The Edinburgh side had gone into the international break with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Kilmarnock and made the trip to Dundee looking to extend an unbeaten league record to five matches.

Hibs started strongly and took the lead just after the quarter hour mark when Jair Tavares played in Dylan Vente on the left wing and was on hand to then turn in Vente’s cross for the opening goal.

Dundee had chances to equalise as David Marshall was forced into a number of saves, and that proved to be crucial as Hibs doubled their advantage just before the hour mark – with Lewis Miller heading in a corner from Joe Newell.

Having already been booked however, Miller was then dismissed after an altercation with Owen Beck and it allowed Dundee back into the game – with Marshall again under pressure in the away goal.

Although Beck was able to get a goal back with five minutes to go, Hibs held on to secure a win that leaves then fifth in the table, two points behind city rivals Hearts.
