2016 LEAF to boast improved range due to new battery

The 2016 edition of Nissan's popular LEAF is to see a 25% increase in driving range, allowing it to travel up to 155mph on a single charge.

Using a 30kWh battery to power its electric motor, the 2016MY LEAF will be reinforced as the world's most capable and practical electric vehicle, with the best value.

Paul Willcox, Chairman of Nissan Europe commented: "The LEAF, the best-selling EV in the world, just got even better. And up-to 155 miles opens the world of EV to thousands of drivers across Europe who before just weren't completely confident that an EV would work for them. This extra range will make LEAF ownership an easy first choice, for many, many more drivers."

The LEAF will also receive an exterior design update, with revised details, including a new roof mounted aerial, and the new colour option of Bronze.

In the cabin of the compact electric hatchback, Nissan's NissanConnect EV infotainment system features, which allows the car to be controlled remotely by its owner. They can use this functionality to check the vehicle's charge status or preheat the interior during cold winters days. The new NissanConnect EV system also boasts a new charging map that is capable of showing available charging points.
