The two Macklin Motors-supported Edinburgh clubs could meet in the final of the Scottish League Cup after successfully making it through to the semi-final stage.

Heart of Midlothian FC were the first team to navigate the quarter finals after a dramatic finish to a tie with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park saw substitute Alex Lowry hit a stoppage time winner.

Jorge Grant had put Hearts ahead late in the first half before Brad Lyons headed in an equaliser, only for Lowry to curl in the winner moments after coming off the bench.

That set up a semi-final with Rangers, whilst Hibernian FC will face Aberdeen after a second half comeback led to a 4-2 home win over St Mirren.

Elie Youan and Dylan Vente scored in quick succession to put Hibs into the lead having gone behind late in the first half, before the visitors drew level with less than a quarter of an hour left to play.

However, two goals from Martin Boyle in the final ten minutes wrapped up the victory.

Returning to Scottish Premiership action, a second half goal from Alan Forest was enough to give Hearts a 1-0 win at Ross County to move the Jambos up into fourth place.

City rivals Hibs meanwhile slipped to sixth after dominating against Dundee, but failing to find the net in a 0-0 draw.
