Kia Reveals New EV3 All-Electric SUV With Over 370-Mile Range

Kia Reveals New EV3 All-Electric SUV With Over 370-Mile Range

The new electric SUV follows the success of the highly popular Kia Niro and is the third electric model in the range.

  • The Kia EV3 has been revealed by the Korean car manufacturer. Following in the footsteps of the award-winning Kia Niro and EV9.
  • Built using flagship technology from larger electric SUVs, the new EV3 will offer over 370 miles (WLTP) range.
  • Starting from £30,000, it’s expected to offer a more affordable option for everyday motorists.
  • The new launch comes as part of Kia’s expanding EV line-up, part of a goal to sell over 200,000 vehicles each year.

First, there was the Kia EV6, then the Kia EV9. Now, Kia has revealed its third all-electric vehicle – the EV3.

Shorter than the Kia Niro though longer than the Sportage, the EV3 is set to redefine the compact EV segment. Read on for all you need to know about the new model.

Compact, intelligent design

The new EV3 takes several design cues from its predecessors while remaining unmistakably its own. It is shorter than the Kia Niro at 4,300mm long, though its 2,680mm wheelbase makes it slightly longer than the Sportage.

This allows for a compact yet commanding road presence. While hinting at the spacious interior within.

Practical, liveable interior

Kia EV3 Interior

Inside, the Kia EV3 presents a welcoming space for both driver and passengers. The clutter-free dashboard keeps things simple and modern, with two 12.3” touchscreens and a 5” display. The head-up display allows you to keep your eyes on the road with driver information like speed limits and road signs kept handy.

With AI-enhanced voice control, you can give out simple commands on the go for added convenience. The system will be kept automatically updated thanks to over-the-air updates. These ensure you will always have access to the latest in-car infotainment features and services.

Despite its compact profile, the EV3 looks well-set when it comes to storage. The boot offers up to 460 litres of space, and there is also a 25-litre ‘frunk’ for extra space. Up front, there are several other storage areas, including a central unit between the front seats. Plus, a sliding table that doubles up as a workspace.

Dedicated to sustainability, the interior uses sustainable materials throughout. These include recycled fabric and PET in the seats, headliner, armrests, and floormats. If you want to know more, a scannable QR code on the dashboard provides more information.

Class-leading range

Already a huge selling point for the new EV3 is its competitive electric range. The standard 58.3kWh battery produces up to 255 miles (WLTP) range. Though if you want to go further, the long-range 81.4kWh version will take you as far as 373 miles (WLTP).

This beats many electric rivals like the Volkswagen ID.3, closing the performance gap further between EVs and petrol or diesel cars.

Built on the Hyundai Motor Group E-GMP platform, it will offer 102kW charging as standard, increased to 128kW with the long-range model. With bi-directional charging, the EV3 will also offer a vehicle-to-load function similar to its siblings.

Expanding the electric Kia line-up

The new Kia EV3 is set to be released first in Korea, followed by a European launch later this year. Expansion for the electric Kia range, however, does not end there.

Kia has confirmed that following the EV3, there will be the EV5 SUV, the EV4 saloon, and the EV2 – a smaller model.
