Charging your electric Motability car
If you haven’t owned an electric car before, the charging aspect may take a little getting used to. However, the Motability Scheme provides two ways to make this easier*.
Home charging
If you have access to off-street parking, utilising a home wallbox is the most convenient way to charge your car. A full charge should take around 7-11 hours.
If you're leasing your first electric vehicle, you may qualify for a complimentary home charger to help. Motability will cover the cost of both the charger and its installation. Check out the full eligibility criteria.
Public charging
Public charging is great for providing battery top-ups while you’re out and about. Many public chargers offer fast and rapid charging, providing a 10-80% boost, usually within 40 minutes or less.
So, if you don’t have off-street parking or can’t get a home chargepoint installed, don’t worry! The Motability Scheme will provide you with a membership to the bp pulse network of public chargepoints. Plus, you will receive access to Motability Go Charge. This handy app gives you use of over 45,000 public chargepoints across the UK.
