Motorsport Celebrities and Their Canine Companions

Motorsport drivers are among the fittest athletes in the world, needing strength, determination and skill to achieve in their sport.

Every athlete needs the support of their family, friends and fans – even of the four-legged variety! Here we have famous motorsport legends and their dedicated doggos!

Lewis Hamilton

A familiar face to thousands of fans, F1 legend Lewis Hamilton’s English Bulldog, Roscoe, rarely misses any of his owner’s races. At the Silverstone Grand Prix this year the handsome Roscoe was spotted chilling out in the Mercedes hospitality arena!

Hamilton’s pooch is celebrity in his own right. Roscoe has his own Instagram account, with well over half a million followers. He often can earn a staggering $700 for his modelling photoshoots!

Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel has been rumoured to own a pet dog called Bruno. Although, as the F1 driver is not a regular social media user, it’s hard to know for sure!

We do know that Vettel admitted to giving fellow competitor Lewis Hamilton’s dog, Roscoe, a squeaky toy as a present just before the 2015 Bahrain Grand Prix. Hamilton was kept awake the whole night before the race!

Max Verstappen

F1 World Champion Max Verstappen was destined to be an animal lover since childhood - growing up with five cats, four dogs and a bird!

Spyke, Verstappen’s beloved Dachshund sadly passed away in 2022, and was a regular travelling companion on trips away. Since though, Verstappen’s collection of cats has grown in number, and they often travel together.

Kimi Raikkonen

F1 legend Raikkonen was the proud owner of German Shepherd, Ajax, for many years who sadly passed away.

While there hasn’t been a new man’s best friend on the block since, Raikkonen still shows his dog-loving side in day-to-day life. Known as ‘The Iceman’ for his cool head, Raikkonen spotted a dog trapped in a hot car while on holiday in Tuscany this summer, leaning through the window to give the hot dog a cool drink.

Alice Powell and Jessica Hawkins

This British racing duo form the Bristol Street Motors Click2Drive racing team for W Series. These talented drivers always have the support of their furry companions - Powell from Labrador, Cookie, and Hawkins from her adorable puppy, Riley during events.

Not only do they have their personal pooches cheering them on, but they also have the Bristol Street Motors mascot Bea! An adorable stuffed toy doggo which has looked after them all season long.

Tom Ingram and Tom Chilton

Tom Ingram EXCELR8 Motorsport team member, and this year’s BTCC Champion, had his best season yet this year. We have no doubt that his treasured Labrador Yuri had everything to do with this, supporting him from the sidelines at every turn!

His fellow teammate Tom Chilton’s gorgeous Miniature Dachshund Raffy joined their family a couple of years ago and is a strong and adorable supporter of Chilton’s successful 2022 BTCC career and his family.

There we go! The dedicated dogs behind the talented motorsport drivers, whose careers would surely not be the same without these passionate pooches.
